Arrow Therapeutics is a privately owned pharmaceutical company focussed exclusively on research and development of novel anti-infective drugs.
Founded in 1998 and based in central London, the company has developed a broad pipeline of early and late stage projects at various stages between target screening and clinical development. The first close of our Series B funding round was completed in October 2003 attracting over £21 million towards a total of £25 million. The final close is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2004.
Arrow is a resourceful company with 75 skilled employees across various scientific disciplines. The result is an integrated and effective approach to drug discovery ranging from novel target identification through to clinical development.
Our in-house research efforts have resulted in compounds against Hepatitis C and Respiratory Syncytial Virus in addition to novel antibiotics and antifungals. Along with other early stage infectious disease projects this will ensure a broad portfolio and a steady flow of candidate drugs into the pipeline for future development and partnering.
With our research approach well established we are now stepping up our development activities. The leading RSV compound is expected to complete both Phase I and Phase IIa trials this year. The Hepatitis C compounds are also expected to enter formal pre-clinical work early in 2004 and the clinic in early 2005. Novel antibiotic compounds are currently at late lead optimization stage.
Anti-infectives are three times more likely than the industry average to make it through from early clinical phase to the market and this can lead to attractive partnering deals on earlier stage compounds.
Arrows business model involves licensing out to partners at stages between pre-clinical and Phase IIa depending on the therapeutic area. Partnerships are integral to Arrows approach and are considered on an opportunistic basis, as are in-licensing and M&A possibilities.
